A mensagem updateLocation \u00e9 usada para atualizar a localiza\u00e7\u00e3o do assinante na rede. Ela informa \u00e0 rede a qual VLR\/MSC o assinante est\u00e1 conectado no momento. Usando uma mensagem updateLocation falsa, o invasor alega que o MS da v\u00edtima est\u00e1 conectado ao seu MSC. Nesse caso, os SMSs do assinante ser\u00e3o encaminhados \u00e0 central de SMS do invasor para serem entregues ao MS.<\/p>\n

Al\u00e9m de interceptar SMSs pessoais do alvo, esse ataque pode ser usado contra sistemas de autentica\u00e7\u00e3o que utilizam verifica\u00e7\u00e3o de SMS (token de SMS, verifica\u00e7\u00e3o do Facebook etc.) e pode levar ao comprometimento da identidade do alvo.<\/p>\n

As redes de segunda gera\u00e7\u00e3o (2G) n\u00e3o ofereciam o conceito de autentica\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00fatua, em que a rede se autentica para o assinante. Isso tornava o assinante vulner\u00e1vel a um ataque conhecido como 2G IMSI catcher. Nesse ataque, o invasor que usava uma c\u00e9lula de r\u00e1dio desonesta podia anunciar a mesma rede que uma rede leg\u00edtima com pot\u00eancia maior que a da rede normal.<\/p>\n

O alvo se conectaria, sem saber, \u00e0 c\u00e9lula desonesta em vez de \u00e0 rede leg\u00edtima. O invasor intercepta a chamada e a encaminha para seu destino. Nas redes 3G, esse ataque n\u00e3o era poss\u00edvel, pois a rede precisa autenticar o assinante antes de estabelecer uma chamada. Entretanto, com acesso ao SS7, o invasor pode enviar outra mensagem MAP chamada sendAuthenticationInfo ao HLR para obter as informa\u00e7\u00f5es necess\u00e1rias para se passar pela rede leg\u00edtima.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
