Meddelelsen updateLocation bruges til at opdatere abonnentens placering i netv\u00e6rket. Den informerer netv\u00e6rket om, hvilken VLR\/MSC abonnenten i \u00f8jeblikket er forbundet til. Ved hj\u00e6lp af en falsk updateLocation-besked h\u00e6vder angriberen, at ofrenes MS er forbundet til deres MSC. I dette tilf\u00e6lde vil abonnentens SMS'er blive videresendt til angriberens SMS-center for at blive leveret til MS'en.<\/p>\n

Ud over at opsnappe m\u00e5lets personlige SMS'er kan dette angreb bruges mod autentificeringssystemer, der bruger SMS-bekr\u00e6ftelse (SMS-token, Facebook-bekr\u00e6ftelse osv.) og kan f\u00f8re til kompromittering af m\u00e5lets identitet.<\/p>\n

Andengenerationsnetv\u00e6rk (2G) tilb\u00f8d ikke begrebet gensidig autentificering, hvor netv\u00e6rket autentificerer sig selv over for abonnenten. Det gjorde abonnenten s\u00e5rbar over for et angreb kendt som 2G IMSI catcher. I dette angreb kunne angriberen ved hj\u00e6lp af en useri\u00f8s radiocelle annoncere det samme netv\u00e6rk som et legitimt netv\u00e6rk med h\u00f8jere effekt end det normale netv\u00e6rk.<\/p>\n

M\u00e5let vil derefter ubevidst forbinde til den useri\u00f8se celle i stedet for det legitime netv\u00e6rk. Angriberen opsnapper opkaldet og videresender det derefter til destinationen. I 3G-netv\u00e6rk var et s\u00e5dant angreb ikke muligt, da netv\u00e6rket skal autentificere tilbage til abonnenten, f\u00f8r et opkald etableres. Men med adgang til SS7 kan angriberen sende en anden MAP-meddelelse kaldet sendAuthenticationInfo til HLR for at f\u00e5 de oplysninger, der er n\u00f8dvendige for at kunne udgive sig for at v\u00e6re det legitime netv\u00e6rk.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
